Ministry in the Sacristy

The role of Sacristan is a privileged ministry requiring persons who are regular communicants, dedicated to the liturgy, zealous in their commitment to fostering the growth of our parish community. Sacristy related chores are many and are accomplished almost entirely by volunteers whose responsibilities include:
  • Preparation of liturgical materials: maintained, cleaned, laundered and
replaced as necessary; set up for each rite.
  • Plan and care for flowers or other seasonal decorations.

  • The Lead Sacristan coordinates coverage at all Masses; supervises replenishment of materials; recruits and teaches new Sacristans.

  • Cleaning and maintenance of church complex is the responsibility of
    paid staff.

Liturgical services, to offer close collaboration and support between our Pastor, ordained ministers and the entire liturgical community. All tasks leading up to and following any service are holy duties to be shared by all if a full appreciation of these gatherings is to be realized. For details contact Lisa Weis at (352)394-3562, ext. 107.
