Women’s Ministries Outreach is very excited about offering this ministry:  The Prayer Shawl Ministry.   The idea of a Prayer Shawl Ministry began in 1998 in a church in Hartford, Connecticut.  Since then a ground swell movement of this ministry has spread across the country and around the world.   This is a prayerful ministry that reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace, as prayers for God’s love and healing are woven into each shawl.
 
I have heard your prayers and seen your tears ... Isaiah 38:5
 
The Prayer Shawl Ministry is a very simple thing which loving hearts and hands can do for those who suffer.  A  Prayer Shawl may be knitted, crocheted, sewn or quilted -- (depending on your talent!)  The person making the shawl prays for the recipient who will receive the Prayer Shawl as a tangible reminder of the mantel of God’s love during a difficult and painful time.  There have been many tears of joy, mixed with tears of sorrow, over the realization of the gift of prayer woven into what is now “Their Prayer Shawl.”
