Celebrating The Sacraments

BAPTISMS

Baptisms are celebrated on Sundays except during Lent. Parents are required to register children to be baptized at least 1 month prior to the Baptism and attend pre-baptismal preparation class. For further information please call Teresa Rivera at (352)394-3562, ext. 100, or email trivera@blessedsacramentcc.com.

RECONCILIATION (PENANCE)

Children in the second grade or older are prepared for this sacrament within the P.R.E.P. program. Children must be pre-registered with a copy of their baptismal certificate. It is required that all children receive First Reconciliation before First Communion. Adult Catholics should call Fr. Cromwell at (352)394-3562, ext. 102, or Chris Stalnaker at (352)394-3562, ext. 103, for details, dates, and procedures.

FIRST COMMUNION

First Eucharist is offered to those who are in the Second Grade or older and who have completed the prior year of basic religious education. Adult Catholics should call Fr. Cromwell at (352)394-3562, ext. 102, or Chris Stalnaker at (352)394-3562, ext. 103, for details, dates, and procedures.

CONFIRMATION

In accordance with Diocesan policy, Confirmation preparation at Blessed Sacrament is a two-year process. Beginning candidates must be at least an eighth grader, a registered member of the parish, have received the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and Eucharist, and be practicing his or her faith. Adult Catholics who are seeking to complete the Sacrament of Confirmation should call Fr. Cromwell at (352)394-3562, ext. 102, or Chris Stalnaker at (352)394-3562, ext. 103, for details, dates, and procedures.

MARRIAGE

Preparing for Marriage: Arrangements for marriage are to be made a minimum of six months prior to setting a marriage date. Ongoing practice of the faith is presumed. Contact Michele Benigno at (352)394-3562, ext. 122, for an appointment.

Blessed Sacrament utilizes the FOCCUS instrument [Facilitating Open Couple Communication] to assist engaged couples in their exploration of their expectations and their communication and problem solving skills. A married facilitator couple meets with the engaged to facilitate discussion.

Marriage Preparation Ministry: The Diocese and parish make use of the FOCCUS: Facilitating Open Couple Communication tool. The FOCCUS Ministry, a highly successful and very rewarding ministry for Catholic married couples, needs couples to assist with sessions of dialogue with those who plan to get married. The couples would meet with future couples at least twice to administer the unit and also to share reflections upon its results. Your influence will have a lasting effect on the lives of others.

Diocesan Requirements to be a FOCCUS Couple: 1) Married for at least five years; 2) Be in a valid Catholic Marriage; 3) Practicing their faith on a regular basis; 4) Attend an appropriate training on the use of FOCCUS. For further information, contact Michele Benigno at (352)394-3562, ext. 122.

Annulments: Marriage has been designed by God to last forever. Yet, sometimes marriages fail. Perhaps a valid sacramental union did not exist in that marriage. If you would like to look into the possibility of seeking an annulment through the Catholic Church, contact us. For additional information contact Father Cromwell Cabrisos at the parish office (352)394-3562, ext. 102, or email frcromwell@blessedsacramentcc.com.
